Episodes from 2009, Podcast

A Casual Stroll to Mordor Podcast Album ArtIn this episode of CStM we have a chat with Galenswerd (aka John) from the Celtic-Rock band, Fathom. John was the first Featured Player on the Turbine Community blog. He is a musician in real life working on a Tolkien inspired project entitled “The Lonely Mountain Band”. He is also a kinship leader of the same name on Landroval. We discuss music, LOTRO and kinships!

A celebration of all things Tolkien Inspired!Festival in the Shire was mentioned in the interview which is a big celebration of all things Tolkien that is taking place next summer in Wales. Fathom is trying to get a group trip organized to attend this festival. So if you’re interested in traveling to the UK with Fathom, keep an eye on their website for updates on that!

Make sure you check out http://fathom.bandcamp.com/ for free downloads of Fathom rehearsal music! All music in this week’s podcast is from Fathom or the Lonely Mountain Project!

Hi Merric and Goldenstar, just to confirm what you thought already that ridiculous was meant in the very good sense and not the “getting shot in the head” sense as you put it in your recent excellent show :) Keep up the good work and absurdity (another good thing). The format and fun of the show is such that I could probably listen to you guys talk about walnuts for an hour.

A great podcast, and Galenswerd is a great player to interview. Here’s to the Lonely Mountain Band–The kin and the project!

Another fantastic episode! Good luck to Landrovals friend in The Lonely Mountain Band on their goal to get to ‘The Festival in the Shire’! That would be really something… and YouTube worthy (hint hint!).

Thanks for the plug too! I didn’t think either of you ignored me. I normally play with names off so really it was just surprise to see you both and Azz in Combe. Three players on mounts tend to stick out (just a hair) there! I mostly didn’t want to disturb you on your mission.

I submitted a review on iTunes this morning but it is giving me a fit. For whatever reason, I seem unable to post reviews, either written or stars-only, anymore. Under “my account” it doesn’t even have it pending. No amount of waiting seems to help and I lost a review I posted to Multiplaying.net a few weeks back. I’m going to keep trying to get it fixed as I’d like to see my reviews working again, but just in case I’ll leave it here as well…

    The best of the best!

Over the last 2.5 years, many ‘The Lord of the Rings Online’ podcasts have come and gone and I consider this – by far – to be the best of them all, including the unfortunately short but excellent run of ‘Secrets of Lord of the Rings’.

Within the first few minutes of any episode, the chemistry of this couple draws you in and greets you like an old friend. After playing LotRO casually (but with complete dedication) since just after launch, I took a 4-5 month break after some of the unfortunate aspects of the ‘Mines of Moria’ weighed down on me. It took this podcast, and it reemphasizing everything I had loved about LotRO, to bring me back and buy Siege of Mirkwood. Turbine: sponsor these two now!

So sit back, download an episode or two, and enjoy the tales of Merric, Goldenstar, and even “Baby Hobbit” as they adventure through Middle-earth. If they can win back over this formerly jaded player, you too might want to join them for their casual stroll.

Here is wishing you guys a long, long run!

Re: Mount and Blade. This is a very enjoyable game and as Galenswerd said the main focus of the game is mounted combat. I always thought Turbine might mimic their engine if/when it comes time to move LOTRO into Rohan. Developed independently too so it’s always nice to support “the little guy”. http://www.taleworlds.com
