There have been reports of login queue waits of 45 min or more for VIPs on the LOTRO servers. Why is it significant that VIPs are waiting this long? Well VIPs are to have login priority that comes with their monthly subscription fee.
To make it more clear as to what the VIPs are to expect with this login priority, Sapience has posted how the priority works:
[VIPs] would receive priority over Free and Premium players in the queue. Please note the bolded text. Once a player is logged into the world, they are no longer in the queue. We do not, and have no plans to, remove players once they have logged in. We do not boot any player, free, VIP, or Premium to allow another in.
The issue people are experiencing right now is simply due to all our new friends trying LOTRO on opening weekend. Sapience has posted that they are working to alleviate these wait times as much as they can on their end.
We know you’re having a hard time getting in and some of that is , frankly, very high demand and some of that is network work we’re doing to help increase capacity the reduce lag.
For those curious, the issues were not server related, they were network infrastructure related. Our network operations team has been on site working the problem all day and will continue to do so until we get everything dialed in.
You should be seeing queues reduced dramatically. Most should be gone by the time you read this.
I realize waiting up to an hour or more to get in to play LOTRO can be very frustrating. It’d likely be most of my playtime in fact. Hopefully Turbine’s fix is in place an helping people get back in and playing!
