Today Turbine announced a Double Bonus Offer with their Refer a Friend program.

ReferOptionsIn case you are not familiar with this program here’s how it works.

You invite your non-LOTRO playing friends to join LOTRO by handing them your unique referral code. If they join the game, you get 10% of any Turbine Points they purchase. Not just for a month or two but forever. Free Turbine Points for getting your friend to play!

The news today is that for referrals between November 21, 2011 and January 2, 2012, your referral bonus is doubled. You will get 20% of any Turbine Point purchases made by your friend.

I think it is important to note that this referral bonus only counts if your friend purchases Turbine Points from the in-game store (which says it’s offering more payment options now). Any bonus point promotions, VIP monthly Turbine Points, or points cards purchased at retail stores will not be eligible for your referral bonus.

Referrals are currently only available for U.S. users according to the post. However the Referral Program Terms and Conditions states: “players located in the North America (excluding Quebec), Australia and New Zealand are eligible for this Referral Program. Not sure if this means that only U.S. players are eligible for the bonus promotion or if this was just a oversight.

You can set up your referral links and start sending them to your friends here! http://my.lotro.com/referral

Yeah, but what they’d want is quest packs, trait unlocks, etc. Useful things for experiencing the game not fluff for VIPs…

It’s disabled for European players :(
