Episode 138: I’mma Eat That

April 22, 2012

Episodes from 2012, Podcast

FireworksThis week we discuss update 6.1, anniversary festival, character transfers, lag and even more anniversary festival!

We have a bit of catch up in our return from vacation (which was fantastic). Goldenstar’s Dum Group had beat hard mode Igash in the Grand Stair before she had left even though they had met while she was on vacation. Since returning though all she’s done is play the anniversary festival like crazy-pants.

Merric did a little bit of the Anniversary Festival and not much else.

Riddles in the Dark

Riddles in the Dark is a bi-weekly podcast series by Dr. Corey Olsen (The Tolkien Professor) and David Kale. Discussion will focus on the themes, characters, and events of Middle-earth and lay the groundwork for intelligent speculation about how the book may be translated to film. Each episode will culminate in the hosts making a specific prediction about the upcoming films, to be proven or disproven when the films are finally released.

Dear CSTM, im an old LOTR player and huge fan of the books and movies, the whole Tolkien world feels as if home, i was a deticated player of LotR and i loved that game from the gameplay to the scenery, 3 months ago i realised that the game was an unending grind, and decided with heavy heart to try another mmo the known Star Wars TOR, i wont lie to u i start to miss the nice time i spent with my hunter when back in lvl 26 i was still a newb and was strolling through Middle Earth looking at the scenery. Today i decided to start to play again maybe i would find that spark again, but to my luck i only found out that the game became more like i have to have the latest armor than RP and have fun, where is the fun in lotro now? why everything has to be a grind?, maybe its my kin that is mostly raiding maybe my perfectionism, i need a reason or something to make me come back to the game that i loved, please i know u propably dont care but i would appreciate a second though in my already troubled mind, yours Peter

Hi Merric & Goldenstar,

A few months ago our kin leader Josc got an idea to make a thank you video for Turbine for 5 years of fun times. Kind of funny considering they recently announced a video contest (although the video she made has nothing to do with that contest). Anyway thought you guys would get a kick out of it, here’s a link to it on youtube

That’s hysterical (the title and where it came from :) That was funny though. Brave brave first person to eat lobster!

Got the cloak code to work the next day. I attribute it to either being silly o’clock in the morning or the turbine account page being arsey, it did after all reset and ask for password plus the captcha thing at least 3 times.

Saved me a lot of time running about on alts getting them sorted as lotteries have provided me with enough tokens for all the moria maps and a good chunk of the eriador ones too. Last count I think I’ve had over 10k marks worth of metal tokens, maybe more, as I was about halfway on medallions for boots or gloves and was able to trade up marks and get a new bit of gear. Might get around to having a 2set bonus before RoR but I’ve managed to wean myself off raiding and the need for the super shiney loot.

Enjoyed the episode, and the advice you gave to Peter. However, one request: Please please please don’t refer to Laurelin as only an EU server in terms of options for RP. There is a fledgling community of North American people over on Laurelin (myself included :) ) who are trying to foster its growth during peak US time zones.

Yes we lack in public events, and overall population levels, but we’re trying to change that, to get it going, and trying to get it to self-sustainable levels. Even benign comments like “Laurelin if you’re an EU player” kinda hurt and establish in the minds of your listeners that the server isn’t an option for our timezones.

And don’t get me wrong – I totally dig you guys and what you do, and appreciate Landroval has long been a home to you guys. I love the podcast, and often listen to it several times a week. This isn’t meant to be nit-picky or angry – Its just we NA’ers on Laurelin have been fighting an uphill battle ever since the server opened up

Thanks, and keep doing what you’re doing!
