April 24, 2007 was the official launch date of The Lord of the Rings Online and today we are celebrating 5-years in Middle-earth! Turbine has released this dev diary video talking with Turbine employees new and old about the journey to get where we are today.

    That was really cool to see some of the great artwork of the past, learn some design secrets and get a small preview of Rohan. I always have loved the dev videos that Turbine puts out…I just wish they would release more.

    I always wondered — what happened to Jeffrey Steefel anyway?

    I actually have some really old concept art from this game that I dug up back when I ran MMeOw. A lot of it predated release. There’s even some screenshots that show a clearly different artistic approach, with different warg and goblin models than we see now. If anyone is interested I’ll see about finding them again — although maybe by now CSTM or another site put them up too lol

      I think sometime after either Moria or Mirkwood he was moved to a game that hasn’t been released yet. I would probably put my money on around Mirkwood because that is when they started doing the F2P stuff as well as the Adventure Pack that was released with it which looks like Kate Paiz might have been in charge of.
