Daily Summer Specials for July 12-19, 2012

July 12, 2012

LOTRO Store

Turbine continues their Summer Specials this week with a whole smattering of offers from Expansion Quests to Mount Speed Boosts.  The discounts cover a wide range of percentages from 25% to 75% depending on the sale.  As with the previous Summer Specials earlier this month the sales are typically very good deals since they have much higher than average percentages off of the items.  So let’s get started!

July 12

Expansion Quests: Mirkwood

Over 150 quests, 3 three-person instances (Dungeons of Dol Guldur, Sword-hall of Dol Guldur, Warg-pens of Dol Guldur), one full fellowship instance (Sammath Gûl), and one 12-person raid (Barad Guldur) for levels 61 – 65. Learn more!

Store Location: Account → Quests & Content → Quest Packs
Levels:  61+
695 TP
522 TP

Starting off this week’s sale will be the Mirkwood Expansion Quests and honestly if you don’t have Mirkwood now is a good time to get it.  In fact, I think that you’re missing out if you don’t experience this zone at least once.  It’s one of the better designed zones within the game and what better way to celebrate the upcoming Hobbit Movie than to experience LOTRO’s rendition of an area within this darkened wood.  (And yes, I realize this is not the same area that was explored within The Hobbit, but we as gamers sometimes take what we can get.)

July 13 – 15

Tomes of Will

Use a Tome of Will to increase your maximum power pool, your Out-of-Combat Power Regeneration, and how much you resist Fear effects, including cowering from Dread. Will also contributes to increases in your Outgoing Healing Rating and Tactical Offence Rating.

Store Location: Character → Stats
Levels: All
295 TP
192 TP

Loyalty Virtues

Your loyalty shall be rewarded! Grant your character greater Vitality, increased Armour Value and Maximum Power!

Store Location: Character → Virtues
Levels: All
295 TP
236 TP

Tomes of Agility

Use an Agility Tome to increase your ability to evade and parry incoming blows, add to the amount of ranged damage you deal, and increase your chance to critically hit a foe (ranged or melee). Agility also improves your Hit Chance and your Ranged Offence Rating.

Store Location: Character → Stats
Levels: All
295 TP
192 TP

These items will be on sale over the entirety of the weekend.  The Tomes make a great way to boost up the stats of your characters permanently and getting them on sale is always a good thing.  Loyalty Virtues are also a great asset to most characters and purchasing them through the store is one way to avoid having to spend some time grinding.  However, if you find yourself a bit too reluctant to purchase them there are some good guides out there that will assist you in grinding out that virtue.

July 16

Warden Class

Start A New Character of the Warden Class!   Use powerful combo attacks with the unique Gambit System!  Swiftly block, parry, and evade your opponents!  Deal devastating blows & hold multiple enemies at once!  Restore your own morale!

Store Location: Account → Classes
Levels: All
795 TP
517 TP

A sale that would make Elborigorn proud!  If you don’t have the Warden and love tanking and/or melee classes then you should take a look at this class.  And at 35% off now would be a great time to pick it up.

July 17

Power Potions

Restore your power! Power potions are crafted by Scholars, dropped as loot by humanoid creatures or offered as quest rewards, but they are also available in the LOTRO Store! Power potions can be used simultaneously with crafted power potions and the effects of both will stack. Cooldown is 20 seconds. 5 and 25-stacks of potions available.

Store Location: Buffs & Boosts → Potions → Power
Levels: All
10-330 TP
3-83 TP

Power potions are always a good thing.  However, let’s be honest; as the post states you can purchase similar items from scholars or on the Auction House with in-game money.  Seventy-five percent off is quite the discount, and although I found myself contemplating taking advantage of this, after spending some time contemplating it I don’t know if I will.  I mean it really isn’t that difficult to go to the AH or even make it yourself if you access to a scholar who can make the appropriate level item.  But if you do find yourself constantly short on power in some key moments having an extra boost might help.

July 18

Mount Speed Boosts

Increase the speed of your mount by 20% for 60 minutes! Single & 5-Stacks available.

Store Location: Travel & Housing → Movement Buffs
Levels: 5+
50-225 TP
30-135 TP

While these boosts may be good for collecting resources or for use within The Moors, I’m not sure for what other scenarios in which I might use them.  However, if you are interested in them when they’re on sale for 40% it’s definitely a good time to get them.

July 19

Increase Task Limit +1

Increase the number of tasks that you can complete in any given day by one. You can never move beyond a maximum of fifteen tasks daily. 5 increases available.

Store Location: Character → Tasks
Levels: 8+
150-250 TP
105-175 TP

Tasks are used by many-a-person for a boost of experience and/or for raising particular factions.  However, if you’re like me you reach that daily limit all too quickly.  This sale could assist in making that experience a bit more palatable.  Also, if Riders of Rohan has factions that can be increased via tasks similar to the Rise of Isengard expansion, you might consider getting this for your main(s) while it’s on sale to make hitting Kindred go all the faster.

If you don’t have access to the Warden class, you should get it now. Great sale and one of the best solo classes in the game :D

I was waiting for a sale on the Rune-keeper (and that Premium Barter Wallet), but guess there’s still time for those to happen!

Most definitely. I can’t say for sure that they’ll put either of those on sale, but usually when either the Warden or the Rune-keeper goes on sale, the other is usually right behind it.

These summer sales are way too good, looks like my plan to save TP for the expansion is going to fail again. :)
