Episode 3 Beastly Biters

Hullo and Greetings to you all! Here is another offering for your amusement. I hope all the teeth do not give you a fright!

I just want to add that in some of these situations there is an element of danger. Rest assured, I have my trusty bow and daggers. I did however face danger when an unexpected creature was tracked to Rushock Bog. I was saved just in time by an unlikely character. More of that in a little while, let us begin:

Welcome
Hullo! It’s lovely to see you all again. Today we adventure forth to examine some sharp toothed critters. Not recommended for those new to rambling in these parts. So arm up and come along with me, as we look at Beastly Biters!

Snarling Wolf

Snarling Wolf

A lone wolf is not too much of a threat, he usually is on the lookout for a stray chicken or better still an inexperienced adventurer. In packs they become much more dangerous. These wolves are very intelligent and can work out complicated attack strategies.

Wolf Leader

Wolf Leader

Here in the Wolf Den we find an extended family of Wolves.  Under the leadership of a big scarred brute, these lesser leaders lead packs hunting on the fields. I can’t see the big scarred one at the moment I wonder where he has gone?

Grim Maw

Grim Maw

A dark and evil wolf, he has a large roaming area and this den is just one of his haunts. I can’t help think that he is in some way responsible for the wolves becoming  fiercer in recent months.

Mangemaw

Mangemaw

Local residents told me they have heard terrible howls comming from Rushock Bog recently. After some tracking I found this terrific beast! As much as I admire his size and corr! look at those teeth! He can’t possibly be allowed to remain here. Much too dangerous! I better hurry and find some Bounders.

Foraging Bear

Foraging Bear

These bears forage in the woods for berries and nuts. But won’t say no to a snack of hobbit or stray goblin. Not as big as the bears near Tookborough but still impressive. They congregate in this northern secluded dell.

Bear Cub and Mother

Now They look really cute but these babies would make a meal out of me given half a chance. Be careful, if you strike one of these young ’uns you will have to deal with mommy!

Big Black Bear

Big Black Bear

I think this fellow has wandered off the green fields. Already he seems to have a following of the locals, lovely glossy fur! Looks like he claims this woodpile as his own.

Small Harvest Fly

Small Harvest Fly

I have travelled to the Yale Height to show you these little creatures. They don’t look too dangerous but don’t be mistaken! If approached by inexperienced wanderers they will all swarm and attack! I don’t know why they choose this spot to lay their eggs.

Harvest Fly

Harvest Fly

Once grown these flies descend to the fields and begin to munch on anything growing they can find. The bane of local farmers, if you see these please dispatch them as they can wipe a field of crops in no time at all.

Crop Scrouge

Crop Scourge

The ultimate Harvest Fly! He can eat through more crops than his smaller cousins. But at least he has bright colouring to admire.  Watch out for his bite! Farmers will pay a bounty if this creature is defeated.

Next Time

Thank you everyone! I hope you all managed to remain bite free! Next time we have a light-hearted look at domesticated animals as we visit the various farms of The Shire.  Join me next time for another episode of Lilikate’s Creatures!

A Note of Thanks:

Toffi Fyron Vastdeep

For their assistance and good company I would like to thank Toffi and Fyron, both excellent Dwarves.

Strange Hero!

Pink Hero

Mangemaw had decided to take a bite (or two) out of me, when this kind stranger rushed to my aid. He gave that beast a swatting he will long remember! After noticing his prowess with the sword. I thought, after a bite and a sup, to ask this Pink attired stranger if he would help Jolly Smallburrow with his wolf problem, and he did the very next day!

Thank you, you are a hero in West Farthing!

Lilikate, your stories are always a delight and excellently done! The animals do seem to like you… Mangepaw is smiling… they mostly seemed on their best behavior. I offer a word of caution to beware wolves in pink pants.
