Looking back it’s been almost a year since I’ve written about any of my alts and the simple truth was that I stopped playing them. In fact up until recently it’s been a bit difficult for me to make the time for any games let alone LOTRO. However, I find that lately I have a renewed vigor for the game and that I’m making more time to play. One of the things that has been encouraging me back into the game has been not isolating myself to one character and rediscovering the joy of my alts.
When I was last going through my alts I made it a project; which was fun for a while. I would go through the areas and explore the classes rather than explore the landscape. However, eventually running through the same areas with the same quests on 7-8 different characters in a row got old. (Shocking, right?) One of the things I’d like to avoid this time around is avoid ending up in that frame of mind once again.
This Week’s Question
What do you do to avoid burning out on the game when playing your alts?
- I have a level 63 Captain I plan on duoing with Goldenstar.
- My 75 Guardian is at the entrance of Rohan.
- I have a 51 Warden which I’ve decided to take through Moria for now.
- My Champion is currently at 85 and working on slowly finishing up Hytbold.
This leaves me with 5 other characters in the low 50’s right at the beginning of Moria, and me thinking about how to avoid the same burnout I suffered before. Let me state that I don’t really care about finishing every quest, deed (except for Class) with most of the characters. At this point I feel that I’ve gone though most of the non-Epic Story content. I’m not above using store buffs, or anything else to accelerate them through certain areas or factions iin order to progress them to certain areas or to bring them back later when they can breeze through what might be considered “required grinding” (Do we really need to keep those class skills gated behind the Iron Garrison Guards still)? I’m also open to most ideas even if it’s as simple as leveling them up one at a time to level 85.
So if you have any ideas or if you’re willing to share what you’ve done to not go insane, please let me know.
