Details on the 6th anniversary festival have been posted! This year’s anniversary festival will run from April 16th – April 30th, 2013. We will of course post an updated guide when the festival is available but here’s what we know to be coming this year.
Quests and Deeds
There is no mention of new quests and deeds so we expect it to be similar to how last year functioned. I remember the firework shooting quests to be very very pretty to watch let alone participate in last year.
We do suspect the Festival Ticket system to be changed as they have all been converted into Mithril Coins. We suspect (but won’t know for certain until the festival launches) that these will work similar to what they did with Yule in that you will not be given any coins (tickets) to participate in the quests that require it but the coins will be available for sale in the LOTRO Store.
Last year the Inn League and Ale Association quests were not available during the anniversary festival.
From April 18– 21, 2013 there is double experience earned on monster kills! Time to get your favorite character or favorite alt some levels!
These are short repeatable battles where you whack other players around with a huge club while trying to obtain the glorious beer. It’s gruesome, messy and plain crazy. That’s your clue that the dwarves invented this “sport”. Hopefully this won’t be one of the repeatables fitted to require a mithril coin to play more than once a day.
Horse races will be active like with other festivals and there is a special Anniversary steed (that is separate from the 5 year steed gift).
Last year we got a firework laden steed that would shoot sparks as your rode. I’m not certain if we will get a new one or if the firework steed is the standard. But given how much Turbine loves to make horses, I would hazard a guess we will probably get a new steed but this will still be available to pick up at the horse farm as well.
Gift Box Tokens Drop from Mobs
Just like previous years, monsters will be dropping level appropriate gift boxes randomly that will hold metal themed names. For example “Tin Token” or “Gold Token”. These are not the same as the anniversary tokens. You will not have to do anything special as these will just randomly drop as you are slaying your foes.
This event is also available for monster players to participate in!
Don’t forget to read about the in-game rewards being given to players at the beginning of the festival!
