New Anniversary Rewards

Ketani was awesome enough to go get screenshots and prices of the new anniversary items. I will add these to the Anniversary Festival Guide later tonight but I thought you guys might want to see them before then!

In general these are re-colored versions of rewards we had in last year’s festivals. Ketani has shown color dye example for the cosmetics where available.

So it’s just a different color of rewards they already offered? That’s just ridiculously lazy of Turbine.

I actually rather like that new steed colour. My Elf LM is already telling me it’s faaaaabulous dahling! :D

I’m actually surprised there’s not a ‘cloak of the sixth season’. They have a cloak of fifth from last year when the revamped this event so the lack of a new one surprises me possibly more than it should

Agreed. I miss some of the dresses, cosmetics and hand held items that might have been inspired by the movie. The Farmer’s Market festival had some neat ones, like the hand-held lantern. Now, it seems, like more and more of the rewards just make the characters look silly. A far cry from the more noble look I wanted my warriors to have when fighting against Sauron. So, in the end we’ll have a bunch of warriors dressed as presents with candles on their heads when approaching Mt. Doom? No thanks.

Thank you! I went round and round with people on that damn gift box. I get it if you are trying to be funny but seriously running around playing in it is just crazy.

It just doesn’t feel like an adult game anymore. Least they can do is stop with the pastels and nursery colours.

Cosmetics-wise, the Farmers’ Faire is the festival I liked most in a long while.

I really ejoyed the farmer festival last year too. ;) I’m actually a little sad that they replaced ‘tickets’ with the Mithril Coins this year, because I hated the egg quest but loved the mushroom one. I got my tickets daily and saved them all up and did that mushroom quest on a repeat about ten times one day. It was awesome. :D Won’t be able to do that this year if they’ve stuck to what they’ve done with this one and the Coins. Same thing they did at Yule making the foodie quest non repeatable.

          • Eva Says:

Heh, I collected the tickets too, on all my characters, including crafting alts – which resulted in my having over 1500 mithril coins when they changed them over, oops.

Lore busting, childish stuff we actually pay for isn’t ungrateful it’s Turbine being lazy.

They need to know when people aren’t happy with it, we are customers.

And what does that make you? Besides a troll I mean? Artemis has a valid point. Turbine offered new items. Nobody demanded it. A recoloring is not new. It is lazy. Like painting an old house, and passing it as a new one. Your response makes you, in my opinion, the biggest jerk here. I banish you back to WoW and the 6th grade.

Lazy? How about nothing at all? A lot of people were rather miffed there were not really any rewards. I would have loved some different cosmetics rather than refurbished ones, but the colors and new dye options look great and I can do neat things with them. So many people post nothing but complaints and insults and whine whine whine. It’s disgusting and it’s people who do that that bring this community down. Call me a troll and banish me to middle school if you like, that doesn’t change the fact that what I posted sarcastically is nearly all I ever see all over the place. Jerks was the wrong word, I should have said fools.

Nothing at all and changing the colours of the same items from last year are both lazy. Rabbit do you pay for the game? Just wondering, as a customer we are allowed to tell them when we aren’t pleased with things.

Turbine has been pretty odd lately in general, they have been making the game easier (xp is crazy) and seems prefer that VIP would go to premium to for us to purchase TB.

When the lore of the game is reduced to teal and pink horses, cake crowns and broken content and bugs it really does feel like they are just taking the piss now.

The fools are the ones that accept an inferior product.

I do pay for the game. I guess I just don’t feel that way. Festival stuff, as far as I’m concerned, can be a little lore breaking and I’m okay with it. It’s completely optional and there’s always fun stuff to do, not to mention new outfits to design! I think turbine saw that people wanted some new rewards, and they obliged. They didn’t have to do anything at all. I’ve said before that I am a little underwhelmed at this years festival, and certainly would have liked some new cosmetics. But I don’t think that’s an excuse to bite the head off the company that provides us so much enjoyment. I’m still appalled by many of the thingsi see posted under the guise of feedback. If the tiny liberties taken in fun festival cosmetics take away that much of the game for you, well I guess I just don’t agree.

I was initially a little underwhelmed by these “new” rewards, but I do kind of like that we got some options for these items. Sometimes you end up with outfit choices being kind of restrictive because of the undyeable part of the outfit. I don’t know if I’d have picked teal for the alternate color, but eh, at least it’s something. I do hope we get unique items for the spring festival, though. (Although, the color scheme for these recolored items does remind me quite a bit of last year’s spring festival cosmetics.)

Recolor me disappointed. As much as I dislike the Anniversary Festival because of all the lag and general crowdedness in Bree (I’d like those events soooo much more if they were in an area that wasn’t already hard to move around in), I put in some time over the weekend to gather some tokens in anticipation of ‘new’ rewards. Alas–that time was wasted. I sure hope they are putting some actual effort into the spring festival.

I do sort of like the recolored teal cake top, because now cake looks unhealthy and molded and it can be used for some funny RP :)
I also like patterned box, and I think the horse is looking fine.
I’m slightly sad that not a single original item was added but we have spring festival, and farmer fair, and summer festival, coming pretty much one after, so I’m pretty sure I would be able to fill my vault with new cosmetics anyway. Just my 2c, anyway.

Other games I play are going more towards recolored items, its a fast easy fix, an intern can change the color to an already existing item and add a new id code to it. they always get someone to buy them and can say they are still actively creating content when they most certainly are not.

Its the business market now. The only way it will change is if it doesnt work, ie make money for the company.

Hmmm…the color options would be cool *if* I could dye any of my clothing teal…but alas, that is not a dye available in Middle Earth to my knowledge.

So, which color cake-hat/gift-box shirt would Aragorn have worn while defending Helm’s Deep? o,O

I was also disappoined at first but well… If they had released really new cosmetics, everybody would have been like “Why didn’t they do that before if it was that easy?”. So I guess it’s an acceptable middle solution, showing they do listen to the players after all but can’t do miracles in just one week either. Granted, they could/should have thought about new rewards before launching the festival… Anyhow, I kinda like the teal horse.

Rabbitses Starkfoot, agreeing to disagree is alright by me. :-) I just use to be all about the festivals and lately they haven’t been worth our clan… er Kindship (lol too much Defiance) getting together to do.

Our annual Anniversary party for TMS was spent doing actual quests instead of the festival in light of the prizes and rewards (we all did it last year). So the hope of new things and not getting them was a bit of a blow.

All is good Rabbit! (extends hand for a shake)
