This week is our final episode planned for Casual Stroll to Mordor. Thank you everyone for nearly four wonderful years of sharing our love of LOTRO!
There is very little news this week but its ok because we have four-hours of chatting with CSTM fans. You read that right. FOUR HOURS. This is a whopper of an episode but we just couldn’t see not allowing any more call-ins when folks were waiting around hours to say hi to us. We think we were able to talk to anyone who expressed interest in chatting with us live and was still awake!
It’s impossible for us to explain how much you guys have meant to us. CSTM has been a wonderful experience for us that we are very proud of.
This episode is for you guys. Thank you!
What We Are Up To
- This week the Dums went back to that unpronounceable Annuminas dungeon with 5 Dums and 1 adopted Dum – Kinnie named Serenyalen – and kicked it in the pants! Unfortunately one of the end bosses only took Westernesse damage and that meant like 2 out of the 6 of us could actually hurt him. I worked feverishly to make sure he stayed tricked and addled as it was basically all I could do.
- I was unable to finish the dungeon quest because there wasn’t enough kergrim dudes in there. 19/20 completed. And it wasn’t just me, Hoppy had the same results!
- I got to witness @Ranni ding level 85 at the Treasure Hunt (my hobbit hunter is standing right next to her in the photo)
- Nada. I’m keeping it real!
- Buried Treasure Event is Live! until June 30th
- Very special thank you to Turbine for giving us extra prizes for the farewell giveaway and the nice C.S.T.M. lottery they had put up earlier in the week.
- Special thank you to Massively, Middle-earth News, Doc Holiday for their very nice blog posts wishing us farewell.
- Thank you to MMO Reporter for their special farewell episode! It was very touching!
- Thank you to Whiteberry for her tribute giveaway
Some links I believe I said I would put in the show notes during our discussions with live players and the chat room. I’m certain there is more I’m missing (it was four hours and I was tired!) so if you notice something missing here feel free to leave a comment and I’ll fish up the link to share!
- Etched Lord of the Rings Glassware on ThinkGeek
- Etched Lord of the Rings Glassware from Taverncraft
- Lyrics and ABC file for the original CSTM Theme Song written by Aegthil of Gondor!

Call In Show
This will be the largest length of the show. We spent the time to chat with any CSTM listener who wanted to talk to us. We actually had very little technical difficulty which completely shocked us so it went smoothly and worked are way talking to many many wonderful people.
We seriously wish we had thought of doing this earlier as it was so great to talk to folks directly!
I wish I had had the forethought to have written down all the folks we talked to so I could post a list. I was not that prepared. So sorry you aren’t listed here but you know who you are and you are all awesome! I can’t believe that so many people stayed up soo soooo late and waited hours just to talk to us. It was amazing!

Raise Your Glass
Hey guys. Thanks for all you’ve done for us LotRO players. It’s really been a great time. Sorry to see y’all go. I have a favor to ask. We have a Kinnie that has pretty bad cancer, breast cancer that has spread to her lungs and brain. Her name is Jessie and if you look on facebook, she has a page, jessies journey. Her mom and dad also play lotro and are in our kin Roxxi Manor/Brandywine server. She is getting sicker and sicker and its not looking good for her. She is a single mother that is leaving 2 children behind. My fiance is holding a fund raiser for her, donating 100% of her profits from Avon sold to help Gliv get to Carnigie Hall. It would be awesome if we can reach out to more of the lotro community and let them know. Gliv is a very special person and was pretty well reguarded in LOTRO. Any help we can get getting the word out would be appreciated. I am the kin leader and I can tell you the whole kin is pitching in to help as best we can. Mostly getting the word out to others and sharing the links. And of course buying Avon stuff. Doesn’t do much good if all we did was like and share without buying anything. Take a look and let your hearts guide you. Thank you.
The Avon "Send Jessie to Carnegie Fundraiser" is NOW LIVE! http://bit.ly/19F0Idh Use code DREAM4JESSIE at checkout! Remember, 100% of the profits are going to the fund.
Supergirl of Lorien:
Dear Goldenstar and Merric,
I want to wish you well on your final farewell…
I hope life treats you kind and I hope you have all you’ve dreamed of.
And I wish you joy and happiness, but above all this, I wish you love.
Throughout my adventure through Middle Earth, you have always been there.
When I didn’t know where else to go to learn and enjoy the game, you were there.
You expanded this game more than any site or organization, and I would venture to say brought my entertainment than some of the expansions.
Your legacy will live on long after your podcasts have ended because YOU made a difference.
A wise poet once summed up my feelings,
"Did I ever tell you you’re my hero?
You’re everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
’cause you are the wing beneath my wings…"
Supergirl of Lorien <3
Merric and Goldenstar,
It was incredibly sad to hear that you will be ending your podcast. I have spent many a night listening to you two talk about the game and provide insights So, it was hardto see that part of my "life ritual" come to an abrupt end.
BUT, I also know how life goes and how hectic it can be (especially with children!!). I’ve never done it, but I can imagine that preparing for and putting together a podcast is no easy task and requires a lot of time to complete. So on that end, thank you for all that you contributed these years with the podcast and with improving our LOTRO experience. I totally understand and support your decision to do what is best for you and your family.
Thanks again and I wish you many blessings at work, in your family, health podcasts, or whatever else you do away from LOTRO!
Sincerely, from a member of THE BEST MMO community ever–
I, Calalilie Tylpe Hobbit Warden of Kindred Spirits on Gladden, wish to say that I have come to love your show and used them many times to not only cheer me up with a bout of good hearted laughter but also it was your shows that brought me back to LotRO after a several year absence, something even my husband couldn’t do for very long. I was shocked to learn that you and Merric both play on my old server, one I’ve often thought about going back to given my husband is on a LotRO break at the moment.
Anyway I have a bit of a funny tale of my own baby hobbit I’d like to share with you and Merric. My daughter Haylee was watching her father battle a dragon, and began to cheer him on so much as screaming at the dragon, waving her arms about as if she was striking the dragon. H later on let her press buttons and she ended up killing her first warm in LotRO at 1 years old! But the cutest moment was when I looked up from my LotRO session to see her holding a book(tome) in one hand and a walking stick in the other, banging it as she took a step forward. I suddenly called out ‘You shall not pass!’ Right as she banged the stick down again and she started to laugh. We now have a baby Loremaster in the house.
(Not to mention that she has a rattle made from an old coke-a-cola bottle that had some of our old D&D dice inside. She’s definitely a gamer girl already )
So farewell and good health to you and your family, until that day our paths cross again, be it inside of LotRO or be the joys of you two returning to the world of podcasting as CstM.
Calalilie Tylpe of Gladden.
Dearest Goldenstar and Merric (and baby hobbit),
Being on the other side of the globe it’s impossible for me to call during the last podcast, but nevertheless I really want to send you a big hug and a backpack full of thank you notes for everything you have done for the Lotro community over the past years.
Lotro will never be the same without you guys and I will dearly miss CSTM!
Despite having listened for three years (and working through the backlog, yes I listened to those first episodes aswell) this is actually my first e-mail to the show.
I just couldn’t let you end without giving my direct thanks for the information, the entertainment, and the comfort you have given, or deprive you of the chance to butcher Swedish, which I don’t think I’ve heard on the show yet.
Ett hjärligt Tack för de här åren! [Translation: A heartfelt Thank You for these years]
I doubt any LOTRO podcast will be able to really fill the gap you guys leave.
God speed and thank you for all you’ve given us listeners!
Cadd, of the Swedish kinship Friskyttarna on Evernight.

Leveled my 74th Hunter up to level 85, which means I now have 322 toons all level-capped and all with rank 16 virtues. I now have 22 million Marks and 4.5 million Medallions. The amount of Seals I have is a shameful 217 thousand. I now have 92 accounts that I regularly use on a daily basis.
In real life, I haven’t been outside in about 6 months (Christmas 2012 was the last time I had human-to-human interaction) but my online life more than makes up for it!

My kinship, The Phoenix Rising, beat Battle for Erebor on Tier 2 Challenge mode. That was a server first on Vilya and my first server first!
