More Minstrel Talk

After our last not-really-a-roundtable-it-was-more-of-a-triangle-table podcast about Minstrels, Alanion and I got together in our kinship’s voice chat with some of the kin’s other minstrels to talk a little bit more about the minstrel class.

There is a little bit of duplication of information but we tried to steer clear of things we had covered previously.

We talk about some specific skills, as well as our approach to learning to heal as you level.

I recommend you listen to the prior podcast before picking this one up.

About Vræden

I was suckered into playing an MMO by some friends and have been stuck around ever since. My "main" is a minstrel on the Elendilmir server, but I'm a pretty casual player who likes a good raid every now and then. My healing skills are spectacularly average, and I am known as the Elf Queen of Lousy Healing to my friends. I like long walks on the beach, puppies and mowing down orcs by the dozen. If you see me in-game, say hi or send me a tell. You can also email me or follow me on the Twitter.

Both “roundtables” were outstanding! Thank you for putting this together.

I think the discussion regarding traits is interesting and I’m glad you revisited it in this second episode. Episode one left the impression that deep blue was the best spec. However, The mini is so well balanced that I think there are valid points to be made about running deep blue, deep yellow or what seems to be the most common today, a blend of blue and yellow (4/3 either way). There are great threads on the forums that go into detail about the value of each. I’ll leave the math to others to figure out, but while it is true that deep blue provides the most heals, due to the anthem buffs, running in yellow requires fewer heals, making both specs viable, so go with which ever set up you enjoy playing.

If you do run with some yellows and use your anthems, I highly recommend the plug-in “Minstrel Buffs”. It modifies the UI to more clearly display your active ballads and anthems. It also shows how much time is left on each anthem. This is very valuable, especially if you run with 4Y and want to keep up 5 anthems.

Thanks again. Great set of podcasts.
