I’ve totally latched on to what a great service Steam is. I love the sales and end up buying games at a great deal. I often buy games just because of the sale and don’t have time to play. I love that I can gift games to friends (and that friendly people gift items to me!). So while my Steam library may seem pathetically small to some, it still contains way more games than I have hours for.
I do not multiplayer in most games. I guess I save my multiplayer time for MMOs. Plus I’m a pretty crummy gamer just in general. I hate making someone suffer through me and I hate being told what a horrible human being I am for being so bad at a game. If I multiplayer at all, it’s with friends or family. You know, someone who knows I’m horrible and doesn’t need to comment on it.
One of my favorite types of games I really love playing is the strategy type like Age of Empires or Civilization V. Civ V was actually a gift and I played through a couple full campaigns and really enjoyed it.3
I have Dota 2 but I will likely never boot it up again unless I know I got some friends to help me. That game seriously needed some tutorials. I am not a MOBA player and so being thrust into a game with no idea what was what was very frustrating. The other players’ comments about me were not helpful either. It really made me not excited to try again.
What I’ve set my sights on next though is BioShock. I own 1 and 2 and have never played them. Plus now that I can play with an Xbox controller, these types of games seem to be less complex and clunky to control.4
I’m going to be honest and say that so far, I am not in love with this game. I’ve heard great things but I think the creepiness of it is making me want to just run and hide under a blankie.5 I’m not far into it though so I’m going to keep going and give it a chance. I don’t suspect it will get any less creepy but maybe I’ll stop screaming eventually.
This totally is a game I can only play when Baby Hobbit isn’t around so reserved for after bed time or early morning before she gets up! We’ll see how long it takes me to get through it!
What’s in your Steam Library? Anything you can recommend for my library that I should put on my watch list?
- Meaning non-MMO type. I’m full up on those ↩
- That was such a great pack! I wish they still had it! ↩
- And despite being a total tyrant and happily conquering my neighbors I always seem to win on a Diplomacy platform. *shrug* ↩
- See my Tomb Raider article to hear me whine about PC controls and how I fixed it. ↩
- Oh did I forget to mention I’m a complete sissy? I am. ↩
