Real life was pretty hectic this past week so I didn’t have much time to play anything which means I was in Rift way less often than I wished. As a result I don’t have a whole lot to report this week.
First part of this important update is that our guild has some really amazing members who seem to be givers and not takers. This led to our guild vault being perpetually full. I was spending time organizing, picking out extra stuff and trying to sell it on the Auction House to convert these extra items into cash for the guild.
Some amazing members stepped up donating lots of money so we could purchase the third guild vault. So far, this seems to be exactly what we needed as the vault doesn’t appear to be in a constant state of “fullness” any longer. Thank you guildees! Everyone who donated even a little bit helped!
Part 2 of Summerfest has started and I started doing the littler scavenger hunt first. I really had no issue with Silverwood or Freemarch and even in Scarwood Reach.
It was fishing in Freemarch that caused my hair to fall off! I’ve had random graphic glitches like this before but I found this one pretty amusing. Baby Hobbit thought it was pretty darn funny, too. Then she made me pull out my pet cat.
I went to Scarlet Gorge to continue the scavenger hunt and saw all the people camping for gold spawns and decided I’d finish this quest line later. Silverandir in the guild said Gloamwood was just as bad with spawn campers.
Apparently I have no problem sitting waiting for a pet to appear but waiting for a quest objective is not something I’m willing to sit around for. I figure this will become easier as the festival goes and possibly do it like on a Saturday morning when the server isn’t at peak capacity.
My patron pass expired this week as well. Merric had purchased me some time as a gift. I had to sit and think if I really wanted to be a subscriber or not. Here’s the blurb on Rift’s site for the patron benefits:
Every Patron receives a store discount, extra Loyalty rewards, and priority queue status, plus special bonuses to currency, mount speed, and various types of experience. In addition, Patrons have improved daily log-in rewards and exclusive weekly log-in chests that provide the best chance at bonus currency and premium items.
I really like the experience boosters and especially the reputation / coin boosters as those always seem to be something I struggle with in games. The daily gifts (think Hobbit Presents for LOTRO players) I often forget until some guildee reminds me but I do get useful items in them occasionally. In the end, I did opt to subscribe for now. It’s a game I plan on playing for a while. If I keep forgetting to use all my perks though I may let my subscription lapse and see if I notice any heartburn as a free player.
