I unfortunately missed most of Dum Time this week. We had a skeletal crew so we decided to head to our Dums in Rift to give them a whirl. I’m not sure what exactly Sodum and Opdum did while I was not there but they were Instant Adventuring when I showed up.
The instant adventure is a nice twist on questing. Instead of running to and from a bossy NPC, the idea is something bad is happen and you are sent to where you are needed most. You will even be teleported to the area so it cuts back on travelling. The quests are auto granted and auto complete so you just keep going to the next objective and the next and the next without stopping.
That’s where this starts to break down. Like everything else you do a bunch of times; after a while it becomes a bit boring.
Another issue we have to deal with is none of us really know what the heck we are doing. I’m playing a melee class, which I am pretty much horrible at. Sodum keeps asking hard questions about settings and what stuff means which I have no idea. None of us are willing to read because reading is the opposite of Dum. So we’re sort of meandering about smacking things randomly.
It still seems like it did our Dums some good. I got 2 levels in the little time we played and the other guys got 3-4 levels that night. I’m now level 13, Sodum is level 14 and Opdum is level 15.
