Thomas Was Alone

Goldenstar Games, Opinions, Steam

I have finished playing Thomas Was Alone a little indie game I got in a Humble Bundle that was suggested to me by one of you!

The game itself is simple in its design. It’s essentially a puzzle game where you play different variations of rectangles with different special traits. Some are good jumpers, some are immune to the acid water, some help others bounce, and so on. If it was just this alone, I don’t think it would be nearly as enjoyable as it was.

What really made this game compelling to me was the narration and the personalities assigned to these little rectangles. They weren’t the red one, the blue one, etc. It was Thomas, Claire, John, Chris, etc.

Baby Hobbit enjoyed watching me play this game and help me solve the puzzles. Her favorite rectangle was the big blue square, Claire, because Claire considered herself a super hero. I liked Claire a lot but I think Sarah and James were pretty cool, too.

None of the puzzles we faced were ultra challenging but there were some where I had to work to get the rectangle where it needed to be. Always trying to solve the puzzle to hear more about the little dots and their personalities.

I found this game simple but brilliant and recommend picking it up and giving it a try.

Visit the developer’s site for links of where to buy and also there’s a demo available to download in case you don’t trust me that it is awesome!
