It’s almost Thanksgiving here in the U.S. and Baby Hobbit’s class is celebrating with a festive party this week. I volunteered to bring in some cookies and I was instructed by Baby Hobbit these are to be “Turkey Cookies”.

I found a bunch of cute turkey cookie ideas on Pinterest but the one I decided on was this recipe since I was going to be making a lot and they had minimum construction compared to some of the others I found.
The recipe needed no baking, just melting some chocolate and assembling so it was perfect for allowing Baby Hobbit help me make them. I was in charge of the chocolate dip and she put on the feathers and head. Then I would finish off the face while she handed me the pieces.
I did underestimated the amount of melting chocolate I would need and as a result we ended up not completely coating the whole cookie and instead just spread some chocolate on the top. We’ll just say that I wanted to make the cookies less sugary and not that I have no gift for estimating melted chocolate capacity.
The melted chocolate coating was a pretty big mess. We were pretty chocolaty when we were done. I think that means we did it right!
The recipe also made it sound like you can find little candy eyes anywhere. Not in my small town! So instead I bought a little tub of white icing and we put mini-chocolate chips in the center. I think it worked out ok.
They did turn out pretty darn cute. Baby Hobbit is excited to take them to school.
